Tourism in Cap d’Agde

Located just 4 kilometers from the famous Hérault resort town, Cap d’Agde has everything you need for a great trip: beautiful fine sand beaches for people who love swimming and water sports, quality recreational facilities, a variety of activities for young and old, pretty heritage, and bike paths where you can ride bikes with your family along the seaside and inland. You can stroll along the Hérault and the Canal du Midi from our campsite in Cap d’Agde.

The beaches of Cap d’Agde

With 14 km of beaches near the campsite and the mild Mediterranean climate, Cap d’Agde is a great resort town. From the Baie de l’Amitié beach to the nudist beach to La Grande Conque black sand beach, the town has 9 beaches divided by the old port.   To the west of the port, towards Grau-du-Roi, you will find 3 sand beaches: Richelieu (the biggest, very popular with families), Rochelongue, and Baie de l’Amitié. They are all well equipped (car parks, lifeguard stands, showers, changing rooms) and connected by nice walking paths.   To the east, towards Marseillan, there is La Plagette, La Grande Conque, La Falaises beach, Le Môle beach, La Roquille beach, and the nudist beach. La Grande Conque, the most unique, is protected by high volcanic cliffs. La Falaises beach is best if you’re looking for a private cove, far from summer crowds.

THE 5 ESSENTIAL ACTIVITIES AT CAP D'AGDE

  • Enjoy a water sport There are several water sport centers on the beaches of Cap d’Agde. From kayak rental to windsurfing lessons, you can enjoy many water sports: paddleboarding, sailing, diving, water skiing, jet skis, fishing, boat rides, and more. On a boat ride, you will be able to see the volcanic cliffs and get close to the fort of Brescou, which you can see from the port.
  • Spend a day at Aqualand The Île aux Loisirs, located right by the sea, has several theme parks including once of the best water parks in the south of France: Aqualand. There are 14 attractions for young and old, including rides for adrenaline junkies like the Black Hole and the Boomerang and areas for young children like the Children’s Paradise. Like with all Aqualand parks, the attractions are divided into categories: Family, Adrenaline, and Children. You will find everything you need there for a fun day with the family (shops, restaurants, bars, changing rooms, car park, solarium, etc.).
  • Take the little train If you want to explore downtown and the coast in a different way than by bike, get on board the little Cap d’Agde train! The beautiful steam locomotive offers three routes with several departures per day: Cap d’Agde West, Cap d’Agde East and going up Mont Saint-Loup, definitely the most impressive with views of the Lake of Thau, the Camargue and the Mediterranean.
  • Go to Luna Park and learn how to golf The Luna Park theme park, casino, and 27-hole international golf course is also a great place to have fun in Cap d’Agde.
